There's No Such Thing as a Bad Dog!

Inspired by articles in KIND News, Mrs. Clark's third-grade reading class of Roosevelt Elementary School in Janesville, Wisconsin, decided to spread the word about humane pet care.

"It's important for people to learn how to take proper care of a pet," the kids said. "There's no such thing as a bad dog." The kids explained that dogs who misbehave probably haven't received proper training. With patience and kindness, behavior problems can be solved.

Write on!
To get their point across to other students, they created a bulletin board in the school hallway. Each student chose a dog from a picture calendar and wrote a story about him or her. The stories were posted on the bulletin board for all to read.

According to Mrs. Clark, "The results were remarkable!" Letting their imaginations go wild, the kids got very creative. One student wrote about a dog from Mars. Another dog visited sick people, and still another canine worked with firefighters.

Each story was unique, yet they all had one theme in common: Whether from another planet or right next door, all pets deserve to be treated with kindness.
