KIND Club Project

Caring for so many animals takes a lot of work—and supplies. November 2-8 is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Show your appreciation for your shelter by hosting your own fundraiser!

First, decide what you are going to collect. You can raise money to help pay for shelter expenses. Or you can collect supplies that can be dropped off right away. Design posters and flyers to encourage others to donate.  Be sure to include when and where items or money can be dropped off. Every penny helps!

Shelters usually need the following supplies:

  • food and treats for cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, and other pets
first-aid supplies, such as bandages and cotton balls
  • washable chew toys
  • kitty litter

When your collection drive is over, call your shelter and find out when you can drop everything off! Looking to do even more? Call your shelter and ask how else you can help. For more ideas, check out this month’s Humane Hero and see how she helped her shelter!
