What's all the fuss about? Stopping pet overpopulation! Every day, thousands of puppies and kittens are born. Sadly, there aren't enough homes for all of them.

Spaying and neutering are operations that stop pets from having babies. (Females are spayed, males are neutered.) Spay Day is a day to spread the word about the importance of getting pets spayed or neutered.

Sixteen Years and Counting

Throughout the month of February, events and activities will take place across the country—and around the world—encouraging people to spay or neuter their pets.

During Spay Day 2009, a reported 38,168 animals received the operations. Let's hope this year's events will top that!

February 23, 2010 is the 16th Annual Spay Day. To find a Spay Day event near you, visit humanesociety.org/spayday.
