Hello, my name is Eldin. I go to school at P.S. 247. At my school, I was elected treasurer of my school. As treasurer of my school, I work with the secretary, vice president, and the president. We are known as the student government. At my school we raised $1,000 by doing a penny harvest. We spent $500 for children in a shelter. The other $500 went to you guys, The Humane Society of the United States.

The penny harvest in my school was held by different teams. One team was red, the other was white, and last of all was the blue team. To see how many pounds each team raised, we had a bulletin board downstairs in the lunch room in my school and we labeled it with acorns. Each acorn stands for 10 pounds. At the end, the blue team won! Then $500 went to the children in a shelter and the other $500 went to you guys, the Humane Society. The Humane Society was chosen from my school P.S. 247 from a survey.

The student government made a survey based on an animal shelter to get the extra $500. The survey was asking the whole school P.S. 247 to circle a choice based on health care, animal shelter, animal food, and many more. The students from K-5 circled their choice. Then it all tallied up to you guys, the Humane Society.

We ask for the money to be spent on the animals. For food, shelter, health care, and more stuff that you guys will need for the animals. The student government and the school trust the Humane Society. THANK YOU guys at the Humane Society for committing your life to helping and saving animals.
