All Washed Up!

Over the past school year, Mr. Bradley's 3rd period Civics and Economics class at West Point Middle School in Virginia, decided that they wanted to help animals. They held a car wash and donated the $243 they raised to The Humane Society of the United States. Here's what the kids had to say:

I have always had a very strong passion and love for animals, so it was a great experience being able to show my love for them by participating in this community service project. I know that we can never do enough to help our ‘furry friends’, but I hope we’ve at least done something!” – Meghan, age 12

“This experience was really cool and to be able to help The Humane Society of the United States made my day. I think that all animals need a group like yours to be their voice. Animals are so innocent and it breaks my heart to know that people can be so cruel to them. I enjoyed this very much and would do it every day if I could. Thank you!” – Catalina, age 13

“I really wanted to donate the money we raised to the Humane Society of the United States because I love animals and I thought to myself, ‘Wow, we could save lots of animals lives through this action.’ I encourage all young people to contribute to the Humane Society. We can all make a difference in animals’ lives if we step up and do something about it.”– Amanda, age 14

“I picked The Humane Society of the United States for our community service project  because I want to go to college to become a veterinarian.” Martin, age 14

‘I think that what we did was great and I hope that we can help as many animals as possible with the money we raised.”– Dylan, age 12

“I enjoy volunteering and helping out, especially for animals since I love them so much. It’s terrible that people hurt animals.” – Emily, age 14

“The Humane Society of the United States was a great group to donate the money from our car wash to because animals are a great gift to the world and shouldn’t be mistreated. This was a really good decision and I feel proud that my classmates and I did something good like this- it makes me feel good about myself!” – Raven, age 14

“When Meghan came up with the idea of donating our money to The Humane Society of the United States, I thought it was a really good idea. I love animals and hate to see them being hurt in any way. I think that the Humane Society has a purpose that matters, but one that a lot of people don’t think about. I’m glad that she came up with this idea because this is a perfect group to donate to.” – Abby, age 13

“I loved the idea that we could raise money for a special purpose, and what other way to make it a great decision than to give it to a group like the Humane Society of theUnited States that makes a difference.” – Katherine, age 13

“When we thought of doing a car wash to benefit The Humane Society of the United States, I was glad because I have dogs and 3 goats and I wanted to help other animals.” – Jason, age 13

“I love animals and I hate to see them get hurt, so I think it was a good idea to help them by donating money to The Humane Society of the United States.” – Shelby, age 13

“I think that animal cruelty is wrong! I love animals and would never hurt them.”– Kaleb, age 13

“Animals are living things that deserve a chance at survival and a good life.”– Travis, age 13

“What can I say for animals, for they are so special in my life. I have a dog who is like a  best friend and I play with him every day.” Eduardo, age 16

“I’m glad that we donated the money we earned to The Humane Society of the United States. I never realized how many animals are mistreated in the world.” Austin, age, 14

I am glad that there are people like those at The Humane Society of the United States who take their time to help animals and make the world a better place. So many bad things are happening in the world and to animals, but we can stop this. One person can help, but with a family like our class and school is, we can do even better! – Isiah, age 14
